Dungeon Deep

The second slot every day this season will be devoted to a massive dungeon crawl.

Everyone who plays will enter the dungeon from the same place the last group left off.

You begin each session with all the items that have been found up to that point for you to use.

A stable of six pregenerated characters will be used to play these sessions (see below).

How far can you get?

Every Saturday and Sunday 1:00 to 3:00

The subterranean complex now known as Dungeon Deep was first discovered one hundred and thirty six years ago by dwarves mining silver in the boar spine mountains. They unearthed a massive door we call the steadfast watcher that had been covered by erosion for what seemed to be a very long time. The construction wasn’t that of the Imperial humans that once lived in the region. There were runes on the door that defied attempts to translate them. No one managed to find a way to open the door or discover its origins. It remained a mystery for twenty three years until a scholar figured out that the runes were a combination of Celestial and Infernal. Despite the apparent impossibility of such a thing it allowed him to decipher what had been written. It referred to a key of ebony and ivory that could be used during a lunar eclipse to open the door, which would remain open until the moon next shown full. A global search began for this key and almost forty years later, an adventuring party found it in the treasure hoard of a sea hag. They travelled to the steadfast watcher and as the runes promised, the key worked. What they hadn’t expected is the door and keyboard both vanished. Beyond was a dungeon full of deadly challenges. There days later two of them emerged with the bodies of their fallen companions, sacks of treasure and several magical items. When the moon next shown full, the steadfast watcher re-appeared but there was no sign of the key. The search was on again. It was thirty years until it was found again, in a griffon’s nest. A second party opened the door and passed within. They emerged five days later with less treasure but a relic that allowed their fighter to conquer a kingdom. They reported that the maps made by the first group were useless. It seemed that the Dungeon remakes itself every time it is opened. The next party to find the key took twenty five years to do so and never left the Dungeon. It has been eight years. There have been fewer adventurers searching because of the fate of those who had been lost but a fellowship found the key hanging from a goblin’s neck. It is strange that it took so little effort to find it but they are resolved to succeed where the last party failed. The eclipse has arrived. It is time for the door to open…

The first level of Dungeon Deep is mostly explored. All that remains lies down the tunnel to the top right...
